Once all your ideas are in the right order and you’ve decided on the details, there can still be logical or technical issues to resolve. Even the most carefully prepared manuscripts can always benefit from a second look by a seasoned professional. That’s where I (and my fellow editors) come in.

Whether you’re looking for guidance in developing your material, recommendations for refining its style, or assistance in polishing grammar and spelling before submitting to a publisher, I can help. I have over ten years of varied editing experience, and I’ve worked effectively with writers in multiple fields and career phases.

My Approach

A good editor is, first, an attentive reader—someone who considers the goals, possibilities, and fine details of a piece of writing. When I work with you, I aim to be that reader, and look at your work with a keen and generous eye. My job is to ask questions and offer suggestions to help you craft focused, compelling work that engages your desired audiences and appeals to editors at top journals and your target presses.

What I Offer

I provide blended and copy editing services to:

• academic presses;

• humanists and social scientists who aim to publish in peer-reviewed journals or with scholarly presses; and

• trade nonfiction writers who seek to publish with traditional presses or in reputable literary journals.

I also proofread for presses and offer manuscript and job document reviews to scholars.

I don’t work with authors who are pursuing self- or hybrid publishing options, but I’m happy to make referrals to colleagues who do. I’m also happy to refer you to colleagues who provide services I don’t, such as indexing or translation.
